In the 1930's  French professional astronomers chose St Michael as the best astronomical site in France.  This tells you that you will be coming to the right part of the country.  Compare the picture of their horizon (below) with our picture of the moon (above) and you will see that, these days,  we have an even better site from the light pollution point of view!
